Looking Back from Third Trimester

It’s hard to believe that I’m now in the third trimester of pregnancy. It seems like yesterday when I was finishing up the last day of my 2nd year teaching, which was June 3, 2011. I LOVED my students last year, and I had a wonderful ending to the school year. With no papers to grade and no pertinent errands to run, I decided to go to the Dollar Store and get a pregnancy test since Aunt Flo was late. Along with this test I purchased a dog toy and some kitchen scissors, and apparently the tattoo-covered cashier thought these three items were an odd combination. She chuckled and said, “Your man better run for the hills!” I still have no idea how that comment correlates to my purchase. It’s just what I’ve come to expect from Small Town, Indiana.

Since it was June in Indiana, the sun stayed out until about 9:30 that evening. It was a gorgeous day. I remember taking the test and immediately seeing a positive, so I promptly told Josh, who was sitting at his over-sized desk working on something for medical school. However, I tried really hard to not get excited. It was a Dollar Store test after all. So, after going to Wal-Mart (I know. I was really going out all now.) and seeing three more positive pregnancy tests, we allowed ourselves to get very excited 🙂 That day will always be etched in my memory–the start of summer, gorgeous weather, and a baby on the way. And, now that little baby boy is almost here. He is forever squirming in my belly, causing pelvic and backaches, and giving me some strange skin conditions. But most of all, I thank God for the joy this baby is already giving me. Even if I had to be on bed rest for all nine months, I would gladly do it, and I can only imagine how this love will continue to grow.

27 weeks and the beginning of third trimester!

  1. I am laughing so hard at your first paragraph. Your experience with the Dollar Store cashier is very funny! By the way, those tattoo-covered cashiers are in North Carolina too.

  2. I am also cracking up like your mom at your first paragraph. What a combination of things to buy! No wonder the cashier said that! You weirdo. Lol We also did dollar store. I’m convinced it doesn’t matter how cheap, if it’s positive, there is no question about it. And, I am so so glad it was positive for you. I have said it before, you are going to be THE BEST mom.

  3. I agree with Miranda, any test works. The kind they use in most doctor’s office are the same they sell at dollar tree, but I took 4 as well!

. Love your blog Sarah! You look great, and the nursery is cute. Lila has a jungle themed room also!
